FC Baltimore had a stellar first season in the NPSL. The squad won the Mid Atlantic regular season, advanced to the Northeast Region Semi-Final and ended the year as the #11 Power Ranked team in the Nation. Vital to this mission was a man signed from Open Tryouts- Jade Mesias.
“Jade is a midfield workhorse,” said FC Baltimore Director of Soccer Operations Alex Lubyansky. “We were thrilled to find him last year. He awed us at Open Tryouts, and continued to run the show throughout the season. He was one of three FC Baltimore Players to earn Mid-Atlantic All Conference Honors, and the only man from FC Baltimore to make the NPSL Northeast Region XI.”
One key objective of FC Baltimore is to create pros- and Mesias is writing one story the ‘Roons’ faithful will continue to follow.
Upon conclusion of the FC Baltimore season- Sweden called. Umeå FC plays in Swedish Football Division 1- the third tier of the professional soccer system in Sweden. The club boasts a 10,000 seat stadium.
While Umeå opted not to sign Mesias, he continues to hunt a professional deal in the FC Baltimore offseason. Lubyansky states, “We wish Jade many more successes on the pitch. We want our alumni to sign professionally- and Jade has the tools to make it happen. He’s certainly welcome to return to the ‘Roons in 2019.”
Of the experience Mesias says, “Delighted with the opportunity to train with a top Division 1 team in Sweden. And I look forward to what could happen in the future. The club and everyone in Umea have treated me like one of their own and for that I am grateful.”
